Defence Exhibition Organisation is a nodal agency created in 1981 as a part of the Defence Production Department of Defence Ministry to promote and export
potential of Defence Public Sector Undertakings, Defence Research and Development Organisation and the Ordnance Factory Board.

Through the years, DEO has contributed towards export promotion activities on behalf of Ministry of Defence to a great extent.  DEO is the nodal and co-ordination agency to conduct two major expositions in India (1) Aero India and (2) Defexpo India, which have seen exponential growth in the previous years.

DEO also co-ordinates the participation of Indian Defence industries in exhibitions located abroad.
